Creative Technologist – InDesign
The Opportunity
With the rapid adoption of generative AI and its transformational potential, the ideal candidate must demonstrate expertise in building scalable and flexible applications using various platforms and frameworks. The creative technologist works on some of the most innovative and exciting technologies offered within our ecosystem while partnering across teams to solve customer needs with cutting-edge solutions. A strong ability to solve problems creatively and build for configurability and reusability is critical.
What You’ll Do
- Design and build automated workflows and integrations using low-code/no-code platforms such as Workfront Fusion, Power Automate, or n8n, connecting creative tools, APIs, and business systems.
- Lead end-to-end solution design from concept and prototyping to development, QA, testing, and deployment for demo experiences, proofs of concept, and internal tools.
- Create and maintain dynamic creative templates and automation pipelines for design production using InDesign, including data merge, content mapping, and variable asset generation.
- Develop responsive, interactive demos and internal apps that showcase automation outcomes using modern JavaScript frameworks (React, Vue, or similar).
- Collaborate with creative, sales, marketing, and engineering teams to bridge design and technology, translating creative intent into scalable automated demos and PoCs.
- Continuously explore and prototype next-generation creative automation by combining generative AI services with workflow orchestration to enhance productivity and creative quality.
What You’ll Need
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or Design Technology (or equivalent experience).
- Deep experience building automation solutions using Workfront Fusion, Power Automate, n8n, or similar workflow orchestration tools.
- Strong knowledge of InDesign, particularly data-driven document creation (Data Merge, ExtendScript, or scripting workflows).
- Familiarity with Creative Cloud–style applications such as Photoshop, Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Lightroom and how they integrate within automated or templated production pipelines.
- Working proficiency with REST APIs, JSON data structures, and integrating cloud services (AWS, Azure, or similar).
- Familiarity with JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML/CSS, and comfort writing backend logic in Node.js when needed.
- Strong understanding of design systems, automation logic, and user experience—able to build tools that empower both technical and creative users.
- A passion for creative problem-solving: connecting disparate systems, automating repetitive tasks, and reimagining creative workflows through technology.
